OSAP Information Session

Tuesday, April 29, 2014

 

A representative from Georgian College will be hosting an information session for students and parents regarding the Ontario Student Assistance Progam (OSAP) on Tuesday, April 29 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart High School library. The purpose of OSAP is to supplement the financial resources that a student and their family are expected to contribute to their post-secondary expenses. OSAP is based on financial need as determined through an assessment of your application. The online application is available at the following website free of charge: http://osap.gov.on.ca . Typically, the OSAP application for the upcoming school year is available online by April or May. Students must confirm their acceptance with their post-secondary institution prior to completing the OSAP application.

 

SHHS Graduation Ceremony - Wednesday, June 25, 2014

Plans for “Graduation 2014" are well under way. Graduating students who would like to assist with the planning for their graduation ceremony are invited to sign up at the guidance office. The ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 25 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart High School gymnasium. Students must confirm their intention to attend the graduation ceremony by submitting their grad fee of $40.00 at the guidance office by April 30. This grad fee will help to defray the costs associated with our graduation ceremony.

Graduates must ensure that their documentation of 40 hours community service has been submitted at the main office by Tuesday, June 17 ( the first day of exams). This documentation is a requirement for any student to receive an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Other requirements include a minimum of 30 credits of which 18 are compulsory and the successful completion of the literacy requirement. Students who do not meet these requirements will not be eligible to receive their diploma.

On the evening of the graduation ceremony, the graduates are required to pick-up their gown by 6:15 p.m. The graduation ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will last approximately two hours. Graduates, family and friends are invited to enjoy refreshments in the school cafeteria following the ceremony.

 

Awards - Scholarships and Bursaries

Graduating students are eligible to apply for a variety of awards. Application forms will be available at the graduation information meeting and must be submitted at the guidance office by April 30, 2014. Eligibility for community service awards require submission of volunteer hours by May 31st.

Returning Gr. 12 students who graduated in June 2013, but postponed their entry to postsecondary until September, 2014 are now eligible to apply for awards. Application forms will be available in the guidance office following the April 10th graduation information meeting.

 




Sacred Heart High School in Walkerton held their 2012 Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday, June 27, 2012
in the school auditorium. Ontario Secondary School Diplomas were distributed as well as a large number of Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards provided by many generous donors and community groups. Sacred Heart High School and the Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board would like to thank and recognize all these donors and congratulate all of the graduates.
The theme for the ceremony was "Be More Than a Name ... This Is The Time Of Your Life"

APRIL SCHEFTER MEMORIAL AWARD
This award has been established by the Community Living Walkerton & District with the encouragement of neighbours of the Schefter family. This award has been established by Walkerton Minor Sports in memory and honour of Raymond Martin. Ray had a true Heart of Gold. He proved this by his loving and kind ways. Ray was always there to lend a helping hand, never able to say “No”. Ray displayed outstanding dedication and commitment in his community as a volunteer, coach and friend.

Awards - Scholarships and Bursaries

Graduating students are eligible to apply for a variety of awards. Application forms will be available at the graduation information meeting and must be submitted at the guidance office by April 30, 2010.

Returning gr. 12 students who graduated in June 2009, but postponed their entry to post-secondary until September 2010 are now eligible to apply for awards. Application forms will be available in the guidance office following the April 13th graduation information meeting.
