OECTA Supports SHHS Mission Trip

A group of students representing the SHHS Mission Trip to Nicaragua recently approached the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association (OECTA) for a donation in support of their mission work for Friends of the Orphans (FOTOCAN) Nicaragua.

In March 2013, a delegation of 30 students, including 2 staff members, will return to Nicaragua to continue their mission work with Friends of the Orphans. Each participant is required to put forth $2500 for the trip - $1500 for expenses and $1000 donation that goes directly to the orphanage.

OECTA generously approved a long-term grant of $5,000 for three years to be given to "Friends of The Orphans" Canada for the purchase of building materials, educational materials, and basic needs.

Below, representatives from OECTA visited SHHS to present the first donation, $5,000 for the 2013 mission.
