2017 Optimist Essay Contest
Optimist EssayLocal Optimist Club to Sponsor Essay Contest for Students ... "Chasing Optimism in the Face of Challenges"

The Walkerton Optimist Club will judge the local students' essays, based on the topic of "Chasing Optimism in the Face of Challenges". The top three winners will be awarded prizes by place of $100.00, $50.00 and $25.00. The winning essay will then be sent on to compete at the district level for a college scholarship of$2500.00.
The essay contest is open to students under age 18 as of October 1, 2017. Participants in the essay contest will be required to write an essay of at least 700, but no more than 800 words on the official topic. The deadline for submissions is_ February 17, 2017.
Students wishing to participate in the essay contest should contact Christine Reid - Essay Chair at cluisnJan@wightman.ca. for an application form and a copy of the official essay contest rules.

"Young students today have so many fresh ideas about the world and their future," Club President MICHELLE MACKEY said. "As Optimists, it is our goal to encourage them and do what we can to bring out the best in each of them. This gives them a wonderful opportunity to tap into their creativity and pursue possible scholarships at the same time."
